FAQ's For Floor Protection:
1) Is Carpet Film safe to use on my carpeting?
Carpet
film (carpet protection) is safe to use on all artificial (man-made)
carpeting. All natural carpeting such as wool or sisal could be damaged by
using carpet film and carpet masking on it. The natural fibers could become
discolored or cause "pilling" (fuzz balls). For natural
carpets use the Multi
Shield protection which does not have an adhesive backing. Use the Green
no-stick floor protection tape to secure it to the floor.
2) Can I use hard surface protection on my site finished floor?
No, it is not recommended to use hard surface protection on site finished
floors, since the finish may be "pulled up" by the adhesive. We
recommend Multi
Shield protection, Tuf-Guard,
or Protek.
These products do not have any adhesive and therefore are safe for all
surfaces. Use the Green
no-stick floor protection tape to secure it to the floor.
3) How long can I leave down Carpet Film and Multi Shield protection on my
carpet?
Our Carpet
Film (carpet protection) was designed to be used for a maximum of 45 days.
After 45 days, there could be a problem with adhesive transfer from the carpet
film, to your carpeting. The adhesive is made from water-based adhesives
therefore it can be removed by using a steam cleaner. Multi
Shield does not have an adhesive so it can be left down for long periods of
time.
4) Are any of your products reusable?
Yes. Tuf-Guard,
Protek,
and Multi
Shield are reusable products.
5) What surfaces can you use the hard surface protection on?
Hard
Surface Protection can be used on non-site (factory) finished hardwood
floors, concrete, tile, stone, linoleum, and laminates.
6) What's the difference between 2 Mil and 3 Mil Carpet Protection?
2 Mil
Carpet Film is more economical and is made for general, light use. 3 Mil
Carpet Protection is more durable appropriate for high traffic and
construction areas.
7) I'm not sure how much floor protection to order?
First, measure the area that you need to cover and convert it into total feet.
If you have for instance, 500 square feet to cover, then you would need at
least 2 - 24" x 200' foot rolls (24" = 2 feet x 200 feet = 400 square
feet). If you order too much, keep in mind that our floor protection products
will last many years on the shelf (provided it's not in direct sunlight or
extreme temperatures).
8) Does the weather affect any of the floor protection products?
Normal weather will not affect our floor protection products, since they are
made mainly for indoor use only. Extreme temperatures can cause problems with
the adhesive backing.
9) Are any of your products Breathable / Permeable?
Yes, Protek
and Tuf-Guard
are permeable products that allow your floor to breathe. Protek
is water resistant, whereas Tuf-Guard
is not water resistant.
10) I ignored the 45 day rule and now I have adhesive transferred onto
my carpet. How do I remove it?
If you find that you have adhesive transfer, it can be removed simply by using
a steam vac.
